I traveled to Kyoto to sketch the maiko, but the heat of summer in Kyoto is incredible. The maiko, who undergo strict training, obligingly struck this cool pose for me. The crest which can be seen on the fan is the family crest of the maiko who posed for me, Shinayoshi.
